A just like that - we're feeling warm and Christmassy.

And it only took Ireland's very own Colm Meaney as Santa Clause to get us there.

As you can see in Aldi's newest Kevin the Carrot Christmas advert below, the country was left on tenterhooks and rooting for the plucky carrot’s safe return. The drama came following his appearance earlier this week in a teaser advert.

And it seems that Kevin has traded one iconic movie - 'Top Gun' - for another, with 'Pirates of the Caribbean' music playing during the advert while getting the help from a hedgehog named Harry.

Narrated first by a very familiar voice, it is later revealed in the advert that yes, it really is Colm Meany as Santa that helps save the day. If Christmas was looked after by the Irish actor, what a Christmas it would be.

Aldi's Christmas advert will premiere tonight during 'The Late Late Show' at 10.40pm tonight on RTE One.

Take a look at it here before tonight.

And here's the teaser that dropped yesterday, giving us all of the Christmas feels as Colm Meaney's Santa cycles over Dublin with Kevin the Carrot claiming to be Irish.

Colm Meaney commented that he was delighted to be involved with the advert. he said: "I thought it was about time that I played the big man himself and so was delighted to be asked by Aldi to be part of its Christmas campaign. Kevin the Carrot and his family were incredibly welcoming on set and the whole experience was a total joy – even getting in and out of the big red suit.

"This year has been incredibly challenging for everyone but I hope that over the festive season people will be able to enjoy this special time with family and friends – and maybe the odd mince pie or turkey sandwich. Oh, and contrary to many men during lockdown I can confirm that the beard is not mine."

And there we have it, Colm Meaney as Santa has saved Christmas 2020.
