Although we're thankful that 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' is returning for a sixth season, sadly one character - our favourite, to be honest - won't be returning as a regular member of the cast.

In a tweet late last night, Chelsea Peretti - who plays Gina - announced that her time on the show is being reduced, but added that it "doesn’t mean I won’t ever be back, winky face emoji, heart emoji."

Just to be clear, she put in the winky face emoji and heart emoji thing. That's all her. Anyway, creator Dan Goor posted a lovely statement after Peretti's, reiterating much of her statement and confirming that "this isn't the last we'll see of Gina Linetti."

Peretti already had a less visible role in the fifth season, owing to her real-life pregnancy with husband Jordan Peele. Yes, if you didn't know already, Chelsea Peretti is married to the Oscar-winning writer / director of 'Get Out', Jordan Peele. Anyway, her pregnancy and eventual absence on maternity leave was written into the show when she gave birth to her daughter Enigma, who she had with Milton - played by Ryan Philippe, of all people.

As it stands, there's still no word on when the sixth season of 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' is returning, but we'll be sad face emoji, crying face emoji without Gina in our lives.
