Claire Fraser was brought to life eight years ago, and to celebrate this milestone, the series has shared the very first time that the Irish star auditioned to be part of the series.

Caitríona Balfe and her audition tape for 'Outlander' has surfaced online for the show's eighth year on our TV screens.

The Starz production (which you can watch over on the StarzPlay streaming service or via Prime Video) launched in 2014 and turned the Irish actor into one screen presence to keep an eye on. All these years later, the series is still going with a seventh instalment currently in production.

Based on the ongoing series of novels by American author Diana Gabaldon, 'Outlander' follows the main character through various periods in time and features all of the romance, history and sci-fi adventure one would need from a TV series. With a pretty big fan following, the series already has a spin-off prequel production in the works.

Caitríona rose to worldwide fame late last year as the release of the Oscar-winning film from Kenneth Branagh, 'Belfast', began to be rolled out in cinemas. With a lot of buzz surrounding the film, many expected the star to get an Academy Award nomination for her role as "Ma", however she did end up receiving a Golden Globe nod instead.

In the audition clip below, Caitríona records herself as she reads a scene from season one of the popular series where her character tends to a bullet wound on Jamie Fraser (who eventually is played by Sam Heughan). This audition and a number of other special behind-the-scenes features will be part of the 'Outlander' season six limited collector's edition Blu-ray, which will be released this September.

Here's the Caitríona Balfe audition tape for 'Outlander'.

During her appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' earlier this year, Caitríona was able to (hopefully) nip that "St. Patty's Day" saga in the bud for good. But we won't be holding our breath.

Expect more news about season seven in the near future.
