He'd been bigging it up as the interview that Miley Cyrus needed to watch but it seems as though Piers Morgan was left in the lurch as big daddy Billy Ray cancelled his appearance on Piers Morgan Live at the last minute.
The country singer was scheduled to be interviewed by the British host, and even appeared in the show's opening teaser, but just 15 minutes before the show came to an end Piers revealed that he wouldn't be showing up after all.
"Billy Ray was supposed to be on the show tonight to explain his daughter's behaviour, but... I'm not sure he's quite worked out what his explanation is yet" Piers told the viewers. "So we've decided to postpone it. We are going to get the first interview. I know he's watching tonight, so, Billy Ray, good evening, and when you're ready, we will talk about this." This Is Us director Morgan Spurlock, who just so happened to be Piers' other guest on the night, chimed in: "He's got some explaining to do!" he joked.
And while he may have given Piers the cold shoulder, Billy did open his Achy Breaky Heart to Entertainment Tonight. "Of course I'll always be here for Miley. Can't wait see her when she gets home" he said.
"She's still my little girl and I'm still her dad regardless how this circus we call showbusiness plays out. I love her unconditionally and that will never change."
