We are well and truly into the indulgent season, so why not treat yourself to some familiar faces getting all Christmassy?

Grinches beware - you'll be feeling extra festive when we're through with you. As we're nearly halfway through the month of December already, it's about time we start looking ahead to see what are the best TV specials this month.

How about this for a selection of festive TV shows to watch out for over the coming weeks, courtesy of the wine legend Casillero del Diablo.

'The Tommy Tiernan Show' Christmas Special (RTÉ One)

'The Tommy Tiernan Show' has been a roaring success on Irish television since its inception in 2017. With five series under his belt, the comic-turned-host will be back once again for another festive offering (as well as a new series in the New Near) of his improvised chat show. But who will be taking a seat opposite him? In the past, he's been joined by the likes of Branda Fricker, Liam Cunningham and even President Michael D. Higgins; we won't know who it is until they sit down in front of Tommy in the studio.

'Taskmaster' Festive Special (Channel 4)

Time and time again, 'Taskmaster' has proven to be a perfect comedic watch if you're looking for something daft and outside of the box on a Thursday night. At the moment it's unclear whether this is going to be a festive edition of the challenge series or whether it might be the return of the long-anticipated second Champion of Champions special episode. Either way, it's certain to have us roaring with laughter.

'Never Mind The Buzzcocks' Christmas Special (Sky Max)

Is that sweet singing in the choir we hear? No, it’s the raucous cacophony of the Buzzcocks team murdering another classic. Greg Davies hosts a special edition of the chaotic music quiz, with Noel Fielding, Daisy May Cooper and Jamali Maddix being joined for the Christmas episode by Frankie Goes to Hollywood frontman Holly Johnson, broadcaster Lauren Laverne and star of 'People Just Do Nothing', Asim Chaudhrey.

'The Great Christmas Bake-Off' (Channel 4)

It's the crossover we've all been waiting for; 'It's A Sin' x 'The Great British Bake Off'. The cast of Channel 4's groundbreaking series from earlier this year will be taking part in the mother of all festive baking challenges - but can any of them actually bake? Join Olly Alexander, Lydia West, Nathaniel Curtis and Shaun Dooley as they attempt to whip up a storm inside the 'Bake Off' tent, hoping that their festive-themed treats will be enough to see them crowned Star Baker of the week.

'There’s Something About Movies' Christmas Special (Sky Max)

There's nothing like a Christmas movie this time of the year, and the hilarious Alan Carr is the perfect host to walk us through a winter wonderland game show all about them. 'There’s Something About Movies' returns for a festive special full of fascinating film trivia and hilarious re-enactments with regulars Michael Sheen, Jennifer Saunders and Tom Allen. being joined by James Acaster, Thomas Brodie Sangster and Susan Wokoma.

'Mrs. Brown's Boys' (RTÉ One & BBC One)

While there hasn't been a new season of the sitcom since 2013, Brendan O'Carroll seems happy enough to deliver festive specials to us every year, with 2021 being no different. Another two-parter arriving on Christmas and in the New Year, expect 'Mrs. Brown's Boys' to be as manic as ever after the year we've just had.

'Travel Man' Christmas Special (Channel 4)

Finally, with travel on the horizon for a lot of us this festive period, it's only fitting that we return to this delightful comedy/reality adventure series for a Christmas TV special. Given that it's going to be a frosty winter for us all, the festive edition will see comedians Joe Lycett and Bill Bailey explore the wonders of one of the most naturally beautiful countries - Iceland.
