"Gosh it disturbs me to see you Gaston, looking so down in the dumps..."

So how about a prequel series to make things all better? That's what Disney Plus have in mind as it's been confirmed that a prequel series to the live action Beauty and the Beast remake is in development.

Luke Evans and Josh Gad will reprise their roles as Gaston and LeFou respectively, with Gad also joining the writing team.

Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are creating and showrunning the series which will be a musical, like the film. They previously created the popular series Once Upon a Time, which featured many Disney characters, including Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

The 2017 Beauty and the Beast was generally well received by critics with an overall score of 71% on Rotten Tomatoes. You can check out our thoughts on it here. It was also a box office smash taking in $1.3 billion worldwide, so it makes sense that Disney Plus would want to capitalise on that goodwill.

There's no word yet on whether Emma Watson or Dan Stevens are likely to cameo in the Disney Plus series.

However, Evans and Gad were arguably the highlight of the 2017 film, so here's hoping they can recreate that same magic for the series.

All together now, "No one's slick as Gaston, no one's quick as Gaston.."
