Prepare to regret that you didn't go to London become the star you always thought you should be, as the BBC have revealed today for the first time what the salaries of their highest paid staff are.

As you might have hoped, Graham Norton does make the list at a respectable number three, earning £850k to £899k, however it should be noted that this does not include his chat show as that is produced by an independent production company - Graham's So production company, to specify. He's a smart cookie, that Graham.

Coming in at number one is BBC Radio 2 DJ and former Top Gear host Chris Evans, earning an impressive £2.2m - £2.25m, while Match of the Day host Gary Lineker is the second highest-paid star with £1.75m to 1.79m.

Only one third of the names in the top ten are women, with Strictly Come Dancing's Claudia Winkleman coming in as the highest paid female employee earning £450,000 to £499,000 while her co-host Tess Daly gets £350k to £400k.

BBC director-general Lord Hall told staff in an internal video message that the "disclosures highlight that they need to go further and faster on issues of gender and diversity" but said that the corporation was "pushing….faster than any other major broadcaster".

Funnily enough, the highest paid actor is Casualty's Derek Thompson with £350k to £399, but a few of the EastEnders actors salaries are revealed below too if you're curious.

It should also be noted that the figures only refer to the amount of licence fee money each person receives and does not include their earnings from other broadcasters or commercial work.
