The makers and presenters of the BBC Breakfast show better not hold out for an invite to the Royal Palace anytime soon, as this morning they made a serious royal no-no by accidentally showing a picture of Prince William with graffiti on him. What type of graffiti you ask? A penis on his head. Ahem. No getting out of that one BBC Breakfast, you've been royally blacklisted we would imagine.

The incident was caught on camera this morning at approximately half eight, when the programme was showing a trailer for Barbershopera with footage from April 2011. When viewers picked up on the funny error, a small social media frenzy took hold. One audience-member tweeted 'Comedy hand-drawn penis on Prince William's forehead just spotted on #bbcbreakfast #childish #giggle'. Most definitely giggle-worthy. However, some viewers were less amused, with one tweeting 'Dear BBC Breakfast. The trail for 'Barbershopera' just showed a cartoon drawing of a penis on Prince William's head. Please be more careful'.

BBC has since made an apology, stating 'this image was shown fleetingly within a comedy promotional video for Barbershopera, a humorous barbershop group, who were appearing later on in the programme," the broadcasting corporation stated. The material was provided by Barbershopera but we failed to spot the offending material within it. We apologise for this'. Awkward lols.
