'Pennyworth' will be a new TV prequel series based in the Batman universe, and focusing on Bruce Wayne's attentive butler Alfred Pennyworth.

Singer Paloma Faith has been cast as Bet Sykes in the upcoming comic-book series. While Faith's casting may come as a surprise to some, this isn't actually her first starring role. The singer has previously shown off her acting chops on 'St. Trinian's', and 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus' which were both released quite a while ago, so they're easy roles to forget. Let's hope she looks a bit scarier in the DC series than she did in 'St. Trinian's':

Faith's baddie Sykes has been described as a "spirited, sadistic and sharp-tongued villain" in the upcoming series. Starring opposite The Brit Award winner will be Jack Bannon ('The Imitation Game') as the title character Pennyworth, and Ben Aldridge ('Fleabag') as Thomas Wayne, better known as Bruce Wayne's father. 'Pennyworth' is set in 1960's London, and will tell the story of Alfred’s new life when he leaves the Special Air Service and is hired by Wayne as private security.

The release date for 'Pennyworth' will be some time in 2019, and will have a 10-episode first season. 'Gotham' showrunner Bruno Heller is helming the project, so it's believed to be a prequel and replacement to the hit series, which will bow out after it's upcoming fifth season.
