Alas, the end is nigh. With only two more episodes left in the tent, it's certainly anyone's game.

'GBBO' week eight introduced the concept of free-from cooking to the bakers, proving that even without dairy, meat or gluten, all of them can have one of their strongest weeks in the competition.

To say that we were worried for fan favourites Jurgen and Giuseppe (who deserve their own spin-off series) was an understatement. They both seemed to make it through this week thanks to their past merits - even Jurgen's sausage rolls that fell on the floor passed the taste test.

The surprise casualty of the night - due to her having her strongest-ever showing in the 'Bake Off' tent - was Lizzie. The Scouser who stole our hearts with her honest reactions and general upbeat nature each week was placed in the top for all three challenges this week, but it was her middle-of-the-road outcomes of the past which saw her leave the competition.

Lizzie's exit was an emotional one for all in the tent, especially after she had revealed earlier in the episode that she has had SEN issues all of her life.

And so, 'GBBO' week eight ended as only four bakers remain - and it's certainly anyone's game. With Jurgen, Giuseppe, Crystelle and this week's Star Baker Chigs all heading into the semi-final and patisserie week, the competition has four of the strongest and likeable bakers the series has ever seen.

Here's some of the best reactions to Lizzie's departure from the series; and it's pretty clear that viewers will miss her.

Don't miss next week's semi-final, which will be the incredibly delicate patisserie week. Catch the episode next Tuesday at 8 pm on Channel 4, or watch the series on catch up via All 4.
