Arnold Schwarzenegger's origin story (prior to becoming one of the biggest movie stars on the planet) is well documented at this stage.

If you're knowledge on the subject is sketchy we'd wholeheartedly recommend checking out the 1975 documentary Pumping Iron, which showcases Arnold during his dominance in the bodybuilding world. A dominance that saw him claim the Mr. Universe title five times on the trot.

According to Empire, Schwarzenegger is going back to his roots for his next project, a TV series called Pump which will tell the tale of a small group of bodybuilders sculpting their physiques during the early fitness boom in 1973. The show is being set up at CBS, with Arnold exec producing and will also focus on the party lifestyle as well so it's not just eight hour long episodes of guys just working out in the gym.

Schwarzenegger said in a statement: “I knew from our first brainstorming session that Pump would be a hit. The ’70s were such a colorful, transformational time, for me and for our entire country. I look forward to bringing that colour to people’s living rooms with the fantastic, deep characters and the multi-layered story lines of Pump.”

It's not yet known just how loosely based on Schwarzenegger's life the story will be it's unlikely that he will appear as a character. Those would be pretty big shoes to fill.
