Before we know it, there will be only a handful of folk left suppin' pints in the Rovers, as another actress is off on her merry way from the soap. Don't worry though, you probably won't even notice she's gone really. Actress Georgia May Foote, who plays Katy Armstrong is set to leave the soap at the end of the year, although she won't be killed off.
Foote joined the show back in 2010 and since then has had a child with Chesney, an affair with Ryan Connor and... eh.... generally hung around a lot with 'our Joseph' (the kid), not much else though. The producer Stuart Blackburn has confirmed that the door will be left open for her return though saying; "Georgia is a talented actress who has been a great asset to the show. The decision to write out the character of Katy Armstrong is based on storyline discussions and will be one of the consequences of the current drama involving the Windass/Armstrong clan. Katy will not be killed off and the door will be left open for a possible return. We wish Georgia every success with her future career."
The 23-year old actress said; "I have had an amazing four years on Coronation Street. I have had some fantastic storylines and worked with some wonderful actors."I am very excited about what the future holds. Whilst I will be sorry to say goodbye to Weatherfield, I am looking forward to the challenge of new roles. Having worked on other dramas such as Grange Hill and This Is England before I joined the cast, I always knew that I would want to try other roles again in the future. I am hugely grateful for the opportunities Coronation Street has given me and I am very excited about my exit storyline."
So it's ta-ra to Katy, but yeah, safe to say, we'll get over it.
Stunner though 'ey? Maybe she's meant for bigger things, let's just HOPE she doesn't go down the Helen Flanagan route...
