John Torode and Gregg Wallace task the six contenders with taking an everyday ingredient from 'basic to brilliant'. The two who impress most go straight through to the next round. The four others are asked to prepare a humble salad using ingrediants such as chicken, fennel, salmon fillets, tomatoes and bacon. It needs to include a Caesar dressing - and blow the socks off John and Gregg. They then have to serve eight plates of food in 75 minutes. In addition to John and Gregg, their two-course menu will be appraised by 2010 MasterChef Champion Dhruv Baker and runners-up Tim Kinnaird and Alex Rushmer.
