John Torode and Gregg Wallace task the six contenders with taking an everyday ingredient from 'basic to brilliant'. The two who can wow the judges most with their efforts whizz straight through to the next round, while the four others are each given two whole quail, tasked to turn the game bird into a dish that sets the judges' pulses racing. They have a range of protein, fruits, veg, grains and spices to supplement the majestic game bird. Former contenders Simon Wood, Tony Rodd and Shelina Permalloo are on hand as the quartet prepare their best two-course menu for the judges and guests.
