Spain v Argentina (Kick-off 8.00pm). Peter Collins presents coverage of the final, which takes place at New York/New Jersey Stadium in the USA. Spain reached only their second World Cup final by defeating tournament favourites France with a masterclass in their semi-final, winning 2-0 and completely nullifying a disjointed French outfit with ease. They won on their only other appearance in the final, against the Netherlands in 2010, and start as favourites against the defending champions. Argentina are aiming to become only the third nation in history to win back-to-back world crowns, following on from Italy in the 1930s, and Brazil in 1958 and 1962, but will need to be at their very best against the Spaniards. The South Americans came from behind in the last 16 against Egypt and again against England in the semi-finals, with their fight and team spirit making up for weaknesses elsewhere.
