The critically acclaimed TV adaptation of the 1996 Coen Brothers movie Fargo was one of the biggest hits on the box this year. Starring Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton, it managed to scoop the Emmy for Outstanding Miniseries and Outstanding Directing.
A second season was commissioned in July and will be a prequel of the first, set in 1979 in South Dakota. It will revolve around an incident that occurred there that was often mentioned in the first season, and will feature Molly's (Tolman) father Lou Solverson (Keith Carradine) as a state trooper.
Kirsten Dunst is set to play Peggy Blomquist, a small town beautician with dreams of a more exciting life. While Jesse Plemons, who you will know as Todd from Breaking Bad (as well as Landry Clarke in Friday Night Lights), will play her husband Ed, a butcher's assistant who is quite happy with his lot really.
They will join Park's and Recreation's Nick Offerman, who is also reported to be starring in the series, along with Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice) and Rachel Keller
As for Dunst, this will be her first regular role on a TV series although she has appeared in episodes of ER, Sisters, Star Trek: The Next Generation and Portlandia.
Production will only begin on the second season in January, so it will be Autumn until we get to see it, but looks like the cast is shaping up nicely!
And in case you were wondering, South Dakota does have a hint of that famous Minnesota accent as it's a nearby state. Not quite as strong, but we definitely might get the odd 'aw jeez'.
