After a public outcry of support, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been saved from cancellation after it was announced a couple of hours ago that the TV comedy series has been picked up by NBC following Fox's cancellation.
In a statement released to media, chairman of NBC Entertainment Robert Greenblatt said that "(ever) since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home."
"Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!"
Brooklyn Nine-Nine was just one of several high-profile shows that was axed in the past few days, among them comedy series The Last Man On Earth, sci-fi drama The Expanse and the Kiefer Sutherland-starring Designated Survivor. While Brooklyn Nine-Nine was saved by NBC, there's been no word yet on other TV shows being saved by NBC or Netflix.
