The announcement that cop comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine had been cancelled by Fox was met with furore all over social media yesterday.

Fans everywhere were shocked by the news given the series has been met with critical acclaim as well as good ratings, particularly during its most recent fifth season.

Cast members as well as celebs who love the show tweeted their sadness about the show’s cancellation last night.

Fortunately, hope remains as there is a chance that the series could find a different home in the form of another network or streaming service.

Sources tells EW that Hulu, which currently owns the SVOD rights to the series, and Brooklyn studio Universal Television are in contact about the possibility of reviving the series, though this would be considered extremely preliminary. Another outlet or two has also expressed interest, according to a source.

Deadline reports that a Hulu deal would mirror the streaming platform’s pickup of comedy series, The Mindy Project, which also got the axe from Fox. Another potential home for Brooklyn Nine-Nine could be TBS, which in December picked up off-network rights to the comedy. Alternatively, Universal TV’s sister network NBC could rescue the company-owned comedy.
