There's been so much speculation about the next series of True Detective, it's difficult to know what to believe. There have been many the rumour about who was going to play the lead, with Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain apparently all in the running.

Finally though, showrunner Nic Pizzolatto has put us all out of our misery a bit and given some much sought after information about the second series. He has even rubbished reports of these stars that are potentially set to be in it, as casting hasn't even begun yet. Pifft, we feel duped.

The writer told an American radio station that there was in fact going to be three leads in this upcoming series... very interesting. He told the station; "Right now, we’re working with three leads. It takes place in California. Not Los Angeles, but some of the lesser known venues of California and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambience of the place, much like we did with season one. The characters are all new, but I am deeply in love with all of them. We have the entire season broken out, and I have a couple of scripts, and we’ll probably start casting within the coming month"

We will miss that Southern drawl but psychosphere ambience? Deadly.
