Seems as though Martin Moone will be coming home to the Emerald Isle for his next big gig! Series 2 of Moone Boy launches on Sky1 HD this autumn, but the first two episodes will be shown exclusively at the Cat Laughs Comedy Festival in Kilkenny this June. Sure what better place lads?
Chris O'Dowd's co-writer Nick Vincent Murphy is a Kilkenny native, so himself, Chris and some of the cast will be descending on the Marble City for the screening at the Watergate Theatre on June 2nd. With an IFTA in the bag and a third series already given the green light, we're sure they'll be in the mood for quite the party!
"I'm delighted that the second series of Moone Boy will premiere in my home town" Nick Vincent Murphy said. "To write this show, Chris and I are constantly mining our childhoods for good stories and fun characters, and growing up in Kilkenny gave me plenty of both! So it seems fitting that Kilkenny comedy-lovers will get the first chance to enjoy it."
For those of you who don't know/ have been living under a rock for the past year or so, Moone Boy tells the tale of 11-year-old Martin Moone (David Rawle), who is growing up in late 1980s Roscommon. Martin has his own views about life and the universe, and with the aid of his imaginary friend Sean Murphy (O'Dowd), he lets his imagination run wild. He's the youngest member of a rather eccentric family, and his friends? Well, they're not much better. They are however, utterly hilarious. We even went as far as to list the many reasons why we love the show last month.
Moone Boy returns to Sky1 HD this autumn.
