Netflix have put together a handy little chart that shows how much of an influence their young actors have on popular social media website, Instagram.
Netflix has been releasing information on viewing figures for their streaming platform for the third quarter of 2018, with the news that their original rom-coms have been the runaway success this year. They've now also released an insightful chart, which gives us an idea of exactly how much attention viewers pay to the young stars of their hit TV shows and movies.
Take the 'Stranger Things' cast for example; the actress who plays Eleven, Millie Bobby Brown, has seen her followers on Instagram jump from practically nothing, up to a staggering 17.6 million followers today; while Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike in the hit series and also has a starring role in Stephen King's 'IT' movie, jumped from 0.1 million followers to 11 million. Here's the full chart that Netflix released, showing various actor's Instagrams before and after they launched on the streaming platform:
Netflix has commented on their young star's rise to fame, saying “We’re also thrilled that Netflix has been a launching pad for a new generation of global stars like Millie Bobby Brown, Jacob Elordi, Noah Centineo and Gaten Matarazzo. When our service helps our talent develop huge fan bases (from small followings to over 10 million Instagram followers), we can attract the best talent in the world. This explosive growth in popularity is a good indicator that our shows and stars are breaking out around the planet.”
Recode has also said that Netflix announced it has grown "by seven million subscribers during the past quarter and that it expects to add more than nine million subscribers by the end of the year, passing 145 million globally." There's no denying that Netflix is slowly but surely becoming a global success - at least until Disney's streaming platform launches next year, that is.
