It's been a long time coming, but at long last, Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay will be back together on screen in 'Law & Order: SVU'.

Photos posted by Meloni and Marigtay - who play Stabler and Benson in the long-running police procedural - show the two of them hanging out on set, albeit at a distance because of COVID regulations.

The new season of 'Law & Order: SVU' was supposed to feature Meloni's return to the NYPD and lay the groundwork for his own spin-off 'Law & Order: Organized Crime', however the pandemic has already played havoc with production schedules. As Meloni tells it, the episode will "give the audience the backstory of where he's been, how he's been, and he's going to rejoin the NYPD, but with the organized crime unit."

Meloni has been away from 'Law & Order: SVU' for nearly ten years, leaving the series in the twelfth season and returning now in its twenty-second season. Both 'Law & Order: SVU' and the new spin-off, 'Law & Order: Organized Crime', have had their premiere episodes delayed with no air-date currently set.

However, if these set photos are anything to go by, it's hopefully going to be a lot sooner.
