Sky has unveiled a heap of new shows that are set to light up our TV screens later this year.
As well as revealing the first teaser trailer for Colm Meaney's 'Gangs of London' earlier today, Sky and NOW TV have also given us glimpses of just some of the 80 further original TV shows that they plan to release in 2020.
Deirdre O'Kane will be hosting her own Sky stand-up series later this year. Photo: Kieran Harnett'Deirdre O’Kane’s Live from Dublin' (a current working title) will be a five-episode series which was filmed in front of a live audience at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin.
One of Ireland’s best-known stand-up comedians, Deirdre O’Kane will host proceedings with her very own house-band, and will feature guests such as Bill Bailey, Tommy Tiernan, Kerry Godliman and Neil Delamere appearing to give us a good laugh.
'Brassic' will return to Sky and NOW TV for a third season later this year.An eight-episode third season of 'Brassic' is also on the way to Sky and NOW TV, featuring the return of Michelle Keegan, Joseph Gilgun, and Damien Molony in the comedy-drama series. Gilgun, who has had starring roles in 'Misfits' and 'Preacher' in the past, is the co-creator of the series.
When asked if she saw some of her character Erin within herself, Keegan said: "Maybe a little. Often, when you see a programme on the working classes, it is negative and the mother is cast in a bad light, but this is very different. My character is portrayed as a good mother, a strong woman who is driven to do well for herself and give her son the kind of upbringing she never had."
David Schwimmer stars in Sky's new comedy series 'Intelligence'Even before we've had a chance to watch the first season of David Schwimmer's new comedy series 'Intelligence', a second season is already in the pipeline. Hitting both Sky One and NOW TV from February 21st, the workplace comedy is set in the UK's GCHQ.
Schwimmer teams up with series writer and creator Nick Mohammed for a look inside the weedier, geekier version of MI5.
When asked if he would ever consider taking a job on the Emerald Isle, Schwimmer responded: "Now that you have ticked off the UK box, would you consider taking on a job in Ireland? I have never had a chance to work in Ireland, but I would love to. What have you got! Unlike most Americans, I don't have any Irish relatives that I know about at least, but I'd love to work there one day."
Jude Law stars in Sky Atlantic's 'The Third Day'And finally, a definite one not to miss, 'The Third Day' is set to be the world’s first immersive TV drama for Sky and NOW TV, with an innovative live event staged as part of the series. Naomie Harris and Jude Law will star, and the ground-breaking project will tell three stand-alone, yet interconnected stories.
The first part of the series will be called 'Summer', starring Jude Law. Following the conclusion of part one, viewers will get the chance to become part of 'The Third Day' world at a major immersive theatre event. Places will be limited, so audiences will be able to follow the events online.
'The Third Day' concludes with ‘Winter’, starring Naomi Harris, and each of the three stories can be experienced separately or as a complete series on Sky Atalantic and NOW TV over six episodes.
