"This is Maxine and she is our Welsh translator." *Awkward pause*
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney both have a lot of fans out there across the world - but one of them sure as hell isn't Maxine from Wales. Promoting their new docuseries 'Welcome to Wrexham' this week, the lads wanted to honour their Welsh fanbase by having a translator on hand.
In September last year, it was reported that the two TV and movie stars were interested in investing. in the little-known Welsh football club. At the time, Ryan jokingly tweeted about his involvement in the process.
The Wrexham Football Club has been fan-owned since 2011, and last year the members voted for talks to proceed with the potential investors. Over 95% of those asked voted in favour of the proposal.
The 'Deadpool' star and the 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' actor have invested £2 million into the club's infrastructure, and have teased us with the trailer for the documentary highlighting the whole process as well as an access-all-areas look at the club. The news broke in November confirming their investment.
As you can see from the trailer below, however, their new Welsh friend Maxine doesn't think that the two stars are up for the challenge of managing a football club, saying: "There is no way these two can manage a football club. And the one with the toupée thinks Wales is in Scotland."
