Sandi Toksvig's 'Great British Bake Off' replacement has been announced just one day after the celebrity edition took over our screens.

The current celebrity version of 'Bake Off' will be Toksvig's final hurrah on the baking competition, after being with the show since it jumped ship to Channel 4 in 2017. This morning however, comedian Matt Lucas has been announced as her replacement - and we think it's a cracking choice.

Lucas has been on our screens for years, breaking onto our TV screens in the iconic 'Little Britain' with fellow comedian David Walliams. He's gone on to do many other TV and film appearances since then, such as in Tim Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland', and Kristen Wiig comedy 'Bridesmaids'.

Here he is with his future colleague Noel Fielding revealing the news - and attempting to practice their new routine.

The new edition to the show, 'Bake Off' Matt Lucas said: "I’m chuffed to bits to be joining the most delicious show on television. I can’t wait to break bread with Noel, Prue and Paul and meet the brilliant bakers. And bearing in mind my love of cake, I’ve already ordered some much larger trousers in anticipation. See you in the tent!"

Noel Fielding said of the news: "I love Matt. I love his warmth and his comedy and his big joyful smile. I think if we play our cards right we could become the next Chas and Morph."

Last night's 'Bake Off' episode saw Louis Theroux, 'Love Island' star Ovie Soko, and comedians Jenny Eclair and Russell Howard take on the daunting tent. Of course, it was Theroux who stole the show - but he didn't come out as the victor.

Filming for the eleventh series of 'The Great British Bake Off' begins this spring.
