The official trailer for the Paramount+ TV series debuted last night during an American football game halftime show (to see who will play in the SuperBowl in a couple of weeks time).

The 'Halo' TV series gets its first official two-minute trailer as well as announcing a concrete release date.

This March will be the premiere date for the series (in the US; Ireland and UK is TBC), which will see Master Chief lead the war against the attacking aliens, known as The Covenant. Based on the extremely popular video game series, the story takes place in the 26th century following the creation of The Spartans, who were designed to go up against this ruthless species.

Pablo Schreiber will play Master Chief, the most powerful of The Spartans. In the trailer we also catch a look at Natascha McElhon as Dr. Halsey, the creator of the super-soldiers, as well as a better look at another fan-favourite character. Cortana, an artificial intelligence who has a strong connection with the Master Chief, is voiced by the original voice actor from the video game series, Jen Taylor.

The cast of the series also includes Irish actor Charlie Murphy, who will play a brand new character not featured in the video games, known as Makee. Fiona O'Shaughnessy and Ryan McParland also star alongside Burn Gorman, who will all play new characters in the series.

Yerin Ha will star as Kwan Ha Boo, Bokeem Woodbine plays Soren-066, Shabana Azmi as Admiral Margaret Parangosk, Olive Gray as Miranda Keyes, Natasha Culzac as Riz-028 and Rafael Fernandez as Captain Jacob Keyes.

Here's the trailer.

This isn't the first look we've had of the 'Halo' TV series, as the first footage of the live-action adaptation was revealed at last year's Game Awards. At the same ceremony, 'Halo Infinite' also won the coveted Player's Choice Award.

When we see 'Halo' on Irish screens is still up in the air. Sky Ireland is adding Paramount+ to its service in the coming months, but there has not yet been an official date for when this will happen. Sky TV is already home to many HBO and HBO Max releases here and in the UK, as well as the new streaming service Peacock.

Here's hoping we won't have to wait too much longer for the 'Halo' TV series to premiere on Sky and NOW after its debut in the US on March 24.
