Ever since 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' began production in late 2020, there have been rumblings of Daredevil being introduced into the MCU.
The reason for all of this is because the actor who played the superhero for three seasons on Netflix was reportedly spotted on the set of what might be Tom Holland's final solo outing as the web-slinger. Ever since then, one question remains on the lips of fans of the MCU: Is Charlie Cox making a comeback as Daredevil?
Well, if he is making an appearance in 'No Way Home', Sony and Marvel are keeping the subject close to their chest, just like all of the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield rumours. There's another reason why Cox's Matt Murdock appearing in the film would be a big deal; the character's narrative took place in a separate universe which was created by Netflix.
However, as we've seen at the end *SPOILER* 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage', all of the various universes could be coming together. Like, all of them.
However, all of this will remain TBD until we actually get to sit down and watch 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' this December. Until then, Charlie Cox has answered this burning 'Daredevil' returning question in a recent radio interview.
Speaking with SiriusXM radio host Jessica Shaw, Cox alluded to the fact that season three of Netflix's 'Daredevil' was its best-reviewed series - so do we really want to return to the same universe, even if it doesn't end up living up to the hype?
He said: "If there was an opportunity for me to come back as Daredevil, whatever that would look like, I imagine it would be a reimagining of the character and the show. If they choose me to do it, there are going to be some elements that are of course the same. Or they might choose someone else and reboot it all over again...You’ve got to be careful what you wish for.
"You come back and it’s not as good or it doesn’t quite work or it’s too much time has passed. It doesn’t quite come together in the same way. You don’t want to taint what you’ve already got. If we never come back, you’ve got these three great seasons and our third season was our best-reviewed. So, the trajectory was up. I am tremendously proud and grateful for what we have."
'Daredevil', 'Jessica Jones', 'Luke Cage', 'The Punisher' and 'Iron Fist' were all cancelled on Netflix once their owner Disney began to set up their streaming service, Disney+.
Krysten Ritter, who played the brash private investigator Jessica Jones for three seasons, recently admitted she is "ready and waiting" to return as the superhero vigilante.
