Andrew Garfield says leaked photo of him from the 'No Way Home' set is "a photoshop"

Without a shadow of a doubt, 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' will be the biggest release of 2021.

The fan speculation has seemingly overtaken that of previous Marvel releases 'Avengers: Infinity War' and 'Avengers: Endgame', thanks to the possibility of some familiar faces returning to the franchise. Could Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield star in 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' this December? Well, according to the latter, we can keep on dreaming.

Last month, following the release of the trailer for the upcoming Sony/MCU release with Tom Holland as the web-slinger, a photo from the set was seemingly leaked online. In the snap (which you can see here), it shows very clearly both of the previous iterations of the wallcrawler standing/squatting on some scaffolding in a large room enveloped in greenscreen. Many people online speculated that the picture was real, and confirmed both of the actors' involvement in the superhero sequel.

'Spider-Man: No Way Home' has already confirmed that a number of villains from pre-Tom Holland Spider-Man will be showing up to cause some fresh anarchy for the superhero teenager. We saw Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus appear in the trailer, while others such as Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Jamie Foxx's Electro and Thomas Haden-Church's Sandman were briefly alluded to, meaning we could be seeing the supervillain group known as The Sinister Six on the screen for the first time.

Which would make Peter Parker's job even harder than he ever thought possible. So, he's going to need some extra back-up to take them all down, right? Well, according to Andrew Garfield, we're all wrong.

Appearing via video link on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', the British actor batted away any potential rumours about his role in the movie. When asked by the host about the apparent leaked set photo, Andrew laughed a lot (awkwardly?) and said: "I'm not sure about that... What are you talking about? Well if you show me the photo I can tell you whether it's me or it's a real thing."

Eventually succumbing to the allegations, he added: "I heard about it. And I did see it. And it's a photoshop. I'm trying to manage expectations... If they want to give me a call in this late, late stage of the game..."
