We all know Donald Trump is, in fact, a dumbass.

We can say that pretty unequivocally based on a few, brief examples of him being a dumbass. Previously, Trump accused the former US President, Barack Obama, of wiretapping his chintzy gold-plated tower in New York with no evidence.

When presented with no evidence, he then claimed it wasn't wiretapping, but "surveillance". Of which there was no evidence whatsoever, and the Select Intelligence Committee pretty much refuted that claim - but he still stands by it, in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

His most recent example, however, hits closer to home for us as Trump yesterday quoted an Irish proverb that he had heard "for many, many years, and I love it."

Mild applause and scene.

Right, that's not an Irish proverb. It's not even Irish. It's not even a proverb. Any Irish person could tell you that. You want proof? Evidence? No problem. It's a poem, written by a Nigerian man called Albashir Adam Alhassan, called Remember To Forget.

Over to you, internet sleuths.

And there you have it, folks. The leader of the free world - and his entire staff - can't even dig up an Irish poem or proverb properly. People voted for this man and had him elected.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, darkest timeline.
