Wyclef Jean is recovering after being shot in Haiti, the land of his birth, which he wishes to rule some day, when he's not so exhausted/disqualified from running for presidency.
In the mean time, the former Fugees star was backing a friend, musician pal Michel 'Sweet Micky' (I'm not making this up) Martelly, in his attempt to become president of the country, when he was shot as he stepped out of a car to make a phone call in the capital Port-au-Prince. Jean told The Sun: "The way I can explain it is that the bullet grazed me in my right hand. I heard 'blow, blow, blow' and I looked down at my right hand."
His management took to Twitter to reassure worried fans, saying. "We have spoken to Wyclef, he is OK. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.”
As for the gunman, Jean told the AP in a telephone interview Sunday that he "has no idea who fired or whether the rounds were targeting him".
