On Saturday evening in Manaus, Brazil, a match for the Campeonato Amazonense, an eruption of violence marred the game between Nacional and Princesa do Solimões.

It should have been a cause for celebration (and in the end it was) as Nacional did the impossible, coming back from two goals down on aggregate to win the game 5-1 against the favourites.

However, after Nacional had gotten the fourth goal, Fininho of Princesa swung a punch at Leonardo, which went unpunished by the referee, but after a second attempt, Leonardo reacted and the staff, players and guards on the side of the pitch all go involved in a general scuffle. During the melee, Nando kicked Leonardo (who was prone on the ground already) in the head, and he looked in a bad way as a result.

Both Nando and Fininho saw red, while Leonardo was taken to hospital for observation as a precaution, but was released later that evening.
