Villareal helped to make a young cancer patient's dreams come true last night when 13-year-old Gohan took to the field in El Madrigal in a match against Celtic.

Gohan is 13-yeas-old and suffers from cancer, and is fighting the disease as hard as he can. He's also a regular teenage boy, of course, who loves football and is a huge fan of his local team Villareal.

While undergoing treatment in hospital, he told the nurses that his dream was to tog out in the kit of his beloved Submarino Amarillo in their El Madrigal stadium one day, and upon hearing that, they sprung into action.

They got in touch with Unidos por la Esperanza, who are the foundation that managed to put the whole thing together and organised for Gohan to play in a special match between Villareal and Celtic on Thursday evening. He got to start off in the changing room with all the players, meet his heroes, warm up with the rest of the squad and then start the game. He also scored the opener, showing some decent skill in the process with a cheeky backheel.

His goal was greeted with great celebration in the whole stadium, and it was a fantastic gesture that left Gohan with a huge smile plastered across his face. He also added that this whole experience was not only unforgettable, but something that he could hold on to in his battle: "From here I will be stronger, I have so much hope, and I'm only looking ahead"
