The world's greatest skateboarder has taken his skills to the next level with a little help from hoverboard technology.

Being the world's best-known skateboarder has a few perks, one of them being the fact that you get your own video game, another one being that you're one of the chosen few people that gets to ride the world's first real, working hoverboard.

After Arx Pax and Hendo, the team behind this project, issued a press release a few weeks back saying that they'd managed to make the sci-fi, futuristic device for real, there was huge interest, and Tony Hawk was among the people that got in touch to try and have a go on it.

Dave Carnie, who wrote about his trip to ride a hoverboard with Hawk for TheRideChannel.com pointed out that Hawk had already been on a hoverboard, but that was a fake, this was the real deal.

The founders of Arx Pax, who designed this board, were keen for Hawk to get involved as he could help spread the word, but given that prank, he said "Nobody believes me anymore. I'm the boy who cried hoverboard". Be that as it may, we still hope that Olympic hoverboarding is not too far down the line.
