A lot of runners and shoes have a little extra shoelace hole at the top of the shoe that has confounded and confused even the mot experienced of shoelace tying enthusiasts among us.

However, this handy lifehack from Illumiseen, a company that specialises in running gear, has the whole thing licked, and explains exactly how we've all been making a terrible mistake when it comes to tying our shoes.

The little extra hole can in fact be used to form a "lock" that makes your shoes fit better and can even stop your feet from sliding around, rubbing and getting blisters when you go jogging.
