Drones have plenty of uses, and one of them, it turns out, is to be able to fly into a volcano.

Sure, it's not recommended or wise to use it like that, but when you get footage this good, who cares? The clips were captured by Sam Cossman and his team, and while the drones didn't make it, they did manage to document this amazing force of nature in a way that has never been seen before.

The drones were sent to get footage in the hostile atmosphere of Marum Crater on the archipelago country of Vanuatu in the South Pacific, where the heat reaches 2,000 degrees and is pretty much designed to end anything that it comes in contact with.

The footage is being used to stitch together a 3D rendering of the crater, and the data that they gathered will help scientists to get a better understanding of volcanic activity.
