Spanish cyclist Eloy Teruel had a pretty bad weekend in California...

With the finish line in sight, a rush of blood to the head meant that poor old Eloy Teruel got a little bit ahead of himself as he celebrated a win in the seventh stage of the Tour of California this weekend.

However, although he was celebrating furiously as he crossed the line, it turns out that there was still a lap to go, and he only realised his mistake when it was far too late, as the rest of the peloton behind him kept going at full pace.

Poor old Eloy ended up finishing 56th, which is quite a fall from grace, and took to his Twitter account to say something about his slip up, where he seemed to see the funny side, tweeting "I really wanted to win, but at least nobody saw that!"
