The land speed record was smashed recently when The Hennessey Venom GT "unofficially" became the fastest production car on the planet.

Clocking an incredible speed of 270.49 mph, it surpassed the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, which clocked in at just under 270 mph. Morto for the Bugatti.

The Guinness Book of World Records needs at least 30 cars to be built for it to officially be declared ‘production’ and so far only 11 have made the cut - hence the unofficial bit.

Naturally enough, we want one.
