With the current, on-going explosion of Conor McGregor and the UFC in general, casual fans are becoming more and more familiar with the sport of Mixed Martial Arts in Ireland.

While previously it was more difficult to view fights and accompanying UFC programming, a lot of folk still remember when the legendary Forrest Griffin became the first ever ultimate fighter, after a brawl to end all brawls with fellow contestant, Stephan Bonner.

Now, the UFC is on terrestrial television here in Ireland and the format of The Ultimate Fighter has changed for the first time in over 20 seasons.

This season, instead of two coaches squaring off and then fighting, it will be two teams - the Florida based American Top Team and Blackzilians. Both have huge names in their camps and both head coaches seem to really hate each other.

The winning team will pocket a huge $500,000 in prize money. Nice.

We can expect to see this season on BT Sports at the end of April.
