A drone carrying an image of the Albanian flag on a map of Kosovo appeared over the stadium in the match between Serbia and Albania last ngiht, and it sparked a brawl between the two teams and a whole load of supporters.

Given the relationship between the two teams involved, there was already increased security at last night's match, but that didn't stop things from getting completely out of hand as a drone interrupted play and started a brawl that involved players, police and supporters.

As the drone flew overhead in what was later described by Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic as “a political provocation", things began to get heated as the players pointed it out to referee Martin Atkinson. Serbia’s Mitrovic was the man who decided to tear down the flag and try to get the drone, but the Albanian players didn't like that, and the whole thing kicked off from there.

As one of Albania's players tried to get their hands on the flag, the situation really got out of control as a Serbian fan ran on to the pitch with a plastic stool and struck him, and things only got worse afterwards.

There was a delay of around 30 minutes, but eventually they simply had to abandon the match, and speaking to RT.com, Serbia captain Branislav Ivanovic said that the incident was "something we can't comprehend at the moment [but] on behalf of my team, all I can say is that we wanted to carry on and that we shielded the Albanian players every step of the way to the tunnel [after the riot broke out]."

Later, it was revealed the the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama's brother, Olsi Rama, was behind the incident, and he was arrested in the VIP boxes, but there has been no word on what he will be charged with or what sort of punishment he could face.
