The European Athletics Championships have been taking place in Zürich over the past few days, but it might be a tournament that Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad wants to forget after this incident.

We've gotten used to athletes celebrating in sports, from over the top choreographed team numbers in football to Usain Bolt's famous lightning bolt, but we think that Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad won't be trying this one again any time soon.

With a huge lead and on his way to the gold medal, he decided to whip his shirt off well before the end of the race as a celebration, showing not only that he was so confident that he could win this without pushing himself to the end, but also that he wasn't so smart.

Why? Because it's an offence that can get you disqualified, and so the Spanish team lodged a complaint with the International Association of Athletics Federations, who duly went on to disqualify him.

Not his finest moment.
