Anyone who's listened to season 1 of the acclaimed podcast Serial will know that creator and host Sarah Koenig doesn't skimp on the research.
She's thorough and leaves no stone unturned in any case she's investigating.
When it comes to season 2, Koenig had the disadvantage of not having direct access to subject Bowe Bergdahl (instead she has hours and hours of interview tapes of Bergdahl conducted by Hollywood screenwriter Mark Boal), so she had to do even more research around her subject than she perhaps would have had to with Adnan Syed. She interviewed journalists, the military, politicians and to cap it all off, the Taliban.
