Steve Thompson scored the try of his career last night, incredible since his playing career ended over two years ago. The former England international hooker pulled the number 2 jersey on again for his country to face off against Australia in a legends match between the finalists of the 2003 Rugby World Cup. Thompson displayed all the skill of a winger half his age (and waistline) when he received the ball in his own 22, sidestepped the Australian defender and blasted off all the way across the pitch to collapse exhausted over the try line.

Thompson was shortly after subbed off and pumped full of oxygen - and undoubtedly beer - to help him recover, and England went on to claim victory again in a 17-13 win, thanks in no small part to his heroic effort.
