We know that players pretending to be hurt is a widely used tactic, but this is a bit much, isn't it?

A referee in a Peruvian cup match made the difficult decision to bring the game he was officiating to an end early after five players from the same team went down faking injury. The match saw Defensor Bolívar taking on Defensor La Bocana and Bolívar were struggling quite a bit.

When two of their players hit the ground "injured", the ref decided to simply let play go on, and they conceded another goal to go 4-1 down, but that only served to get a few more of them in on the act as they tried to get the game abandoned. With five players from Bolívar down injured the ref had to call a halt to the game early, according to Peruvian sports paper Depor.

You can watch a video of some of the ridiculous play acting below. If you skip ahead to the 3:20 mark, you'll see it all happening.

As Bolívar were already down to nine men, they simply didn't have the numbers to keep playing the match (a minimum of seven is required) and so the ref decided to end the game eight minutes early. That was only the first leg, but the second leg is now in doubt as the footballing authorities are considering punishing Bolívar for their antics.
