We're pretty sure that this is how 2001: A Space Odyssey starts. We could be wrong (although try and tell us that the monolith doesn't look exactly like an iDevice). But one company decided to drop an iPhone from space to test out their case (because why not?).

So confident were Urban Armor Gear in their product that they attached an iPhone in the case to a helium balloon and parachute contraption, let it soar to 101,000 feet and then let it fall back down to earth in 70mph winds and in temperatures of -57°C with a GoPro attached.

It's a little bit of a cheat to attach a GoPro and a parachute if you ask us, but then we do understand that letting an iPhone fall back to earth without one would probably result in someone dying.

We wonder if they got a signal up there?
