Metal music fans tend to love their music a lot harder than fans of other genres. But those other fans are less than accommodating of metal than they should be.
Metal doesn't really have a home in the public sphere like pop & chart music does, so these metal fans decided to bring it to the places it was most inappropriate, one imagines in the hopes of finding it some new fans? Otherwise this is just an experiment in pissing people off.
