Arachnophobia isn't just a decent PG-13 horror film with Jeff Daniels, y'know.

It's a serious phobia that affects 55% of women and 18% of men in the Western hemisphere and, y'know, it's completely logical as far as we can tell. Who likes spiders, honestly? Arachnologists, obviously.

Anyway, an unnamed Detroit man was filling up his car recently and spotted a creepy-crawly climbing up his car. So what did he do? Tried to set it on fire.

Makes sense, you'd think. Except for the fact that, y'know, he's in a petrol station and filling up his car with petrol.

How does it go? Take a look.

Look, let's get some perspective on this. It's a spider. Normally, you'd find a large book or something heavy to squish it with, right?

In a blind panic, which we're guessing he was in, you find whatever's closest to you to try and kill the fecker. He went for a lighter. Not smart, but we understand.

We've all been that soldier. As it turned out, the petrol station wasn't too badly damaged and the owner was understanding about the whole thing.

We're guessing she's no fan of spiders either.
