Poor Jimmy Kimmel. As if having Matt Damon join him on stage at the Emmys and rub in the fact that he lost in the Best Variety Show category wasn't enough he then had to face the prospect of having the winner, John Oliver as a guest on his show the following night.
Oliver brought his Emmy with him on the show and after graciously accepting praise from the host who said "it pains me to say it but you definitely deserved it".
It was then Oliver's turn to send some compliments back to Kimmel only Kimmel felt like the the sentiments weren't exactly sincere. For good reason as it transpired.
