Let's just preface this story by saying that Maggie Smith is an absolute legend. She's Professor McGonagall after all.

Even at the age of 81, Smith is still knocking it out of the park, getting nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the Emmys on four separate occasions and winning twice (including last night). That brings her total Emmy nominations to nine and Emmy wins to three.

Despite being regularly recognised by the premier Television Awards, Smith has never actually attended the Emmys. Something last night's host took issue with (not really). Jimmy Kimmel decided to call her out on it during his opening monologue for the show, stating that if award winners weren't present on the night, they should pass the award on to someone else.
