This is so difficult that it is literally rocket science.

SpaceX launched one of their rockets on a mission to the ISS recently, delivering food and even an espresso maker to the astronauts up there, so they can finally enjoy some good coffee, although we believe there's a Starbucks on the way sometime soon (coming 2017, the Starbucks® ISSed© Latte™).

Anyway, while the 4,000lbs of food it was able to bring up was impressive, perhaps the most amazing thing about the Dragon capsule was SpaceX's attempt to try and land the thing back down on a floating platform in the ocean. It didn't quite go to plan, however.

While it's never a good thing to crash a rocket, it seems that the team behind this only gave the landing project a 50% chance of success, so they weren't too disappointed to see it not work out. Hans Koenigsmann, vice-president of SpaceX stated "It's not quite clear what happened, but certainly it needs more work in the next couple of missions".

Fortunately, billionaire visionary Elon Musk saw the funny side, tweeting beforehand that he wasn't too optimistic for the outcome.

Despite the unfortunate landing, they did achieve their mission of getting coffee to the astronauts, so at least there's that.
