New investigations show just how close two planes came to crashing in to each other last month.

It has been revealed that two planes that came perilously close to crashing into one another last month at Newark Airport in the United States were a mere 50 yards away from disaster, which was thankfully narrowly avoided.

On April 29th, an Embraer ERJ-145 operated by ExpressJet, moved into position and started taking off as a United Airlines Boeing 737 was coming in to land on an intersecting runway. CNN were able to secure the audio of the pilots and air traffic control as the incident took place, and although they're pretty calm, the whole thing seems to have been a very close call indeed.

The National Transportation Safety Board is working on an investigation to figure out what went wrong, but luckily there were no damages to the aircraft and no injuries.
